How does it work?
Our field hockey spring academy is designed for boys and girls aged 3–13 (preschool through 7th grade), making it the perfect introduction to the exciting world of team sports. Over a fun-filled five-week season, your child will enjoy five sessions packed with games, laughter, and plenty of learning.
What's new for 2026?
The second edition of Davidson Hockey Club's Spring Academy will feature more advanced skill instruction AND scrimmage play for our older participants. Each participant in 1st grade and above will be placed on a small team (5-8 athletes), spend the first half of each session working on skill development and then play a small sided game against an opposing team for the second half of the session.
Participants younger than 1st grade or not developmentally ready for game play will focus on fun, interactive skill development, and acquisition of important teamwork and leadership skills.
No experience? No problem! This program is all about beginners. Kids will learn the basics of field hockey, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a supportive and engaging environment. To make sure everyone has a great time, players are grouped by age and skill level where it makes sense.
It’s more than just a sport—it’s an adventure that will have your little one building confidence, making friends, and loving every minute on the field. Let’s play! 🏑✨
